Dandalo Antient Arched Bridge
Dandalo Antient Arched Bridge
The enchanting Dandalo Bridge, an ancient arched structure spanning the Ajaristskali River, is situated near the village of Dandalo in Kedi Municipality, Ajara, just off the Batumi-Khulo highway.
What makes Dandalo Bridge particularly interesting is the fact that its piers are anchored in natural rock. Constructed from local limestone and lime mortar, the bridge's unique S-shaped design, reminiscent of a Latin letter, adds to its charm. Building such a bridge is more challenging than creating a traditional one, particularly as a section of the structure on the left side curves against the river's flow.
Remnants of scaffolding nests can still be seen on the piers. In recognition of its historical significance, the President of Georgia declared Dandalo Bridge an immovable cultural monument of national Significance in 2006.
Visitors can take advantage of the open space near the bridge to enjoy a relaxing picnic with family and friends.
