Varjanauli Arched Bridge
Varjanauli Arched Bridge
The Varjanauli Arched Bridge stands out as one of the most remarkable and impeccable arched bridges, exhibiting superior craftsmanship compared to those built during the 11th and 12th centuries. This bridge hails from a period of architectural art's peak and is considered a monument of the Rustaveli era, often referred to as the Tamar Bridge.
Situated in the Kintrishi River Gorge, the Varjanauli Arched Bridge is notably larger, wider, and higher than most other bridges of its kind, boasting a prominent semicircular arch. Its unique construction technique features clear, square-shaped stones, with its banks also paved using similar stones.
In 2006, the Varjanauli Arched Bridge was designated as an Immovable monument of national cultural significance by the decree of the President of Georgia.
