High Mountain Peaks by the Sea_ A Skier's Paradise at Goderdzi Ski Resort

The Ajara region stands out for its winter resorts, outstanding mountain cuisine, and alpine skiing areas. The highland villages of Ajara offer visitors an opportunity to savor local, authentic culinary delights, explore mountain huts, and immerse themselves in breathtaking views.

Ajara's geographical position, nestled between the Lesser Caucasus and the Black Sea, offers a unique combination of terrains. Low-pressure zones form over the sea, resulting in an abundance of snowfall that feeds the mountain ranges of the Lesser Caucasus. The proximity of the sea to the towering peaks ensures generous snowfall from November through the end of March.

The highlands of Ajara are particularly enticing for mountain enthusiasts, and those with a passion for skiing or snowboarding. Here, the highest peaks rise to around 3,000 meters. You'll find a pristine mountain landscape at Goderdzi ski resort, home to some of the region's best ski trails. The ski season at Goderdzi resort continues until the end of March.

Located 110 km from Batumi, Goderdzi ski resort is a roughly 3.5-hour drive away. Thanks to its closeness to the Black Sea, the resort often receives an abundance of snow, frequently reaching heights of 2-3 meters. The resort features two lifts of varying difficulty levels, a 6-seater bubble-type and an 8-seater gondola-type, offering beautiful slopes and superb skiing conditions.

Aside from the cable car ride, you can also try "CAT SKI" with the help of a Casebore machine. Goderdzi resort was the first in Georgia to introduce the use of a Casebore machine for skiing.

While Batumi's winter is characterized by mild air and temperatures, mountainous Ajara offers a much colder and snowier experience. The snow here lasts until late spring, rendering highland Ajara breathtakingly attractive during this time of the year. For winter resort enthusiasts, Goderdzi resort offers more than just fluffy white snow and fresh air; it also hosts winter festivals.

The food establishments situated around the central area of Goderdzi contribute to a warm and cozy atmosphere. Here, you can participate in sports activities and typical winter competitions while enjoying music performances throughout the day. As the evening sets in, it's time for electronic music performed by local DJs.
