Zendidi Fortress
Zendidi Fortress
Zendidi Fortress is another impressive fortress constructed to oversee the central trade routes of the valleys. Situated in the village of Zendidi, Keda Municipality, this castle looks out over the district center of Keda to the north. Accessing Zendidi Fortress can be a challenge due to its difficult road and the surrounding forest. Though the exact date of its construction remains unknown, it is believed to have been built in the late Middle Ages.
Intriguingly, Zendidi Fortress is built on the grounds of a residential house. The entire yard is enclosed by the ancient castle wall. Currently, the property and the house are owned by the Bezhanidze family, local residents.
Spanning over 6,000 square meters, the Zendidi fortress-wall area retains walls, towers, gates, and a variety of other structures.
