Ajara Museum of Art

In Batumi, there's a lovely art museum set in a historic building from 1949, designed by the famous architect Kakha Javakhishvili. The building stands out with its functional design and striking aesthetic. Its facade is adorned with a relief frieze crafted by the eminent sculptor Tamar Abakelia.

The museum displays art by Georgian artists from the 20th centur, preserving the themes, artistic styles, and significant events of the era. The collection features masterpieces by prominent Georgian artists, including Niko Firosmani, Gigo Gabashvili, Mose Toidze, Davit Kakabadze, Lado Gudiashvili, Elene Akhvlediani, Merab Berdzenishvili, Edmund Kalandadze, Rusudan Fetviashvili, and many others. These artists have not only refined Georgian art but also gained recognition beyond the country's borders.
