Just a short, 9-kilometer journey from the heart of Batumi, nestled on the lush slopes of Mtsvane Kontskhi, lies a true paradise for nature lovers—the Batumi Botanical Garden. Perched in a unique subtropical zone, this garden offers not only breath-taking panoramic views of the city and coastline but also a serene escape into a world of greenery and colour.

For tourists, it’s a must-visit destination, and for locals, it’s a cherished retreat. Families, couples, and friends often wander its winding paths, soaking in the beauty of diverse plants and the soothing sounds of nature. Autumn transforms the garden into a mystical wonderland, where the vibrant fall foliage paints the landscape in shades of gold, crimson, and amber, creating a scene straight out of a fairy tale.

Spanning nearly a kilometre along the coast, the garden is meticulously organized into three main parks, nine floristic sections, and even a Colchic reserve. Here, visitors can marvel at approximately 5,000 herbaceous plants and 1,800 woody species, carefully arranged into phytogeographic zones representing the humid subtropics of East Asia, the Himalayas, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, North and South America, the Mediterranean, and Transcaucasia. Citrus groves, camellia bushes, and vibrant rose collections add splashes of colour throughout the garden, inviting endless exploration.

There are three entrances to the garden, and while a leisurely visit usually takes 2–3 hours, an electric car is available for those who prefer a more relaxed tour. Visitors can enjoy on-site dining, arrange a picnic or even a camping experience, hire a tour guide, celebrate a wedding amid the blooms, or take home their favourite plants as a living souvenir.

Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat from city life, a place to gather with loved ones, or simply a moment to marvel at the wonders of nature, Batumi Botanical Garden is a sanctuary that never disappoints.
