Situated between stunning mountains and lush forests, the Makhuntseti Arched Bridge is a vital cultural and historical landmark in the Ajara region. Located in the village of Makhuntseti, Kedi Municipality, this ancient bridge dates back to the 12th century.
The bridge spans an impressive 28.7 meters in length and 2.5 meters in width, making it one of the widest arched bridges in Ajara. Its height from the water level to the arch surface is 6.3 meters. Built using volcanic rock, the bridge rests upon natural rock piers.
Over time, the Makhuntseti Arched Bridge has undergone numerous restorations, with several rows of additional stone piles being replaced due to differences in shape, size, and structure.
