No matter the time of the year, you always have the chance to attend various events and festivals, or take a yacht ride on the Black Sea. Batumi is the perfect place to blend sightseeing of unique and incredible attractions with a discovery of the local culture, cuisine, nightlife, and other activities.
Top sights to visit while in Batumi:
Europe Square: This square is situated in the heart of the city and boasts eclectic architecture. Surrounded by historical, modern, and colorful buildings, the square also features an astronomical clock and a statue of the Colchian "Medea" holding the Golden Fleece.
Alphabet Tower: Located in the Miracles Park on the first strip of Batumi Boulevard's beach, you'll find a tourist attraction showcasing modern architecture known as "Alphabet Tower". Constructed in 2011 by architect Alberto Domingo Cabo, the tower depicts the 33 letters of the Georgian alphabet. Standing at 130 meters tall, its design resembles the structural model of DNA and is recognized as one of the best examples of modern architecture. The Georgian alphabet is unique in the world and holds a status as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (Source: https://ich.unesco.org/en/decisions/11.COM/10.B.13).
From the Alphabet Tower, you can enjoy some of the best views of the city. The tower's top features a rotating panoramic restaurant and an observatory. The restaurant makes a 360-degree turn, offering guests stunning views of Batumi over the course of an hour. The sunset and sea views are particularly breathtaking.
Ali and Nino: The 8-meter-tall kinetic sculpture of a man and woman, Ali and Nino, stands as one of the key sights on Batumi Boulevard and the Black Sea resort of Georgia. Crafted by renowned Georgian artist and sculptor, Tamar Kvesitadze, the monument is named after the novel "Ali and Nino" by the celebrated Azerbaijani writer Kurban Said. The novel narrates the love story between Azerbaijani Muslim Ali Shirvashiri and Georgian Christian Nino Kipiani, set in the Caucasus during World War I. The statue of "Ali and Nino," created in 2010, showcases the two figures merging every 10 minutes, symbolizing their profound love.
Panoramic Wheel: Located on Batumi Boulevard, the Panoramic Wheel offers a unique opportunity to savor the views of the city, sea, or mountains. The wheel stands 55 meters high and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete a rotation.
Batumi Botanical Garden: If you're a nature enthusiast, the Batumi Botanical Garden is a must-visit spot. The garden encompasses nine phyto-geographic sections: East Asia, North America, New Zealand, South America, the Himalayas, Mexico, Australia, the Mediterranean or European, and the humid subtropical section of Transcaucasia. The garden also features upper, lower, and waterfront parks, test plots, collection plots, and greenhouses for tropical plants.
